After a some research and a general response of "wouldn't recommend it", I took the risk and with some trepidation put trout fingerlings in with my small silver perch and fingers crossed hoped for limited carnage. Having pulled most of my trout from the system of late I am now able to feed and closely view the activity in the tank. The tank is dark in colour so it is difficult to see the fish at the best of times however it is to my surprise that I am viewing all the elusive silvers again. These little tykes have stuck it out against all odds and have even put quite a bit of size on. It is possible that given the competition in the tank, these guys have also become less shy and have taken a few trout like feeding characteristics on. Would I do it again next season...probably not as the silvers will be getting bigger and will probably want the space in the tank. |

I successfully raised trout with my SP this past winter. |
