I've read many different ways of people catching their fish so I'd thought I'd put it out there. How do you catch your fish ? This is my current method, but I usually get very wet |

Nice work Muzz. My problem was having 2 species together and trying to single out the trout. In hind sight it probably would have been easier to catch the whole lot using your method then throw back the ones I didnt want. For my SP I just throw in a line with a worm. The big ones always go for it first. |

I use a herding net and just scoop them out. No chasing them around causes less fish stress. |

My trout are in an ibc so easy to get with my big dip net. Silvers in the 2000L tank I do the same as Charlie with hook and worm. I have made a herding net for the big tank but havent tried it yet |

I have a landing net generally used in boats. Plastic soft mesh that they don't get caught up in. |

Holy cow...... Do you have your tank divided in two? I only use a scoop net usually, perhaps after trying a bait on a line.. |

I had two catch themselves last night by jumping out of the FT onto the ground. Luckily it was a really cold morning so I'll still be able to eat them |

Jeff has gone hungry tonight. The scoop net and a 1,500l tank and 31 agile silver perch beat me. Will have to raid the fishing store tomorrow for hooks. |

Jeff the worst thing you can do is chase them around the tank. With Silvers I find if you gently place the net in the tank and just wait a bit some fish will actually swim into it. If you must net them leave the net in the tank for a bit then very slowly move it towards the fish you want and gently scoop him out. Its that easy!! |

Still hungry. I'll try that tomorrow. I did notice the fish were quite happy with the net next to them but ran as soon as I tried scooping them. More patience required me thinks. |

That's no good Jeff, I reckon a scoop net stresses the fish to much. Mind you my Silvers aren't big enough yet so i've only caught Trout. I just used two bits of 20mm retic tubing, cable tied some bird netting to them and cable tied a short piece of chain in the centre to keep it on the bottom. Because my tanks have a bit of current in them the fish always swim into it. So I just herd them in there as you can see in the video. And no my tanks aren't divided. The one in the video is 5500L, 2.6m in diameter and 1150 deep. I have a big Barra landing net from when I lived in the NT, but it never gets used. Good luck getting a feed |

Good catch, was thinking of pumping a 1,000 lt into a spare IBC to make the tank level lower when I am ready. Still about 9 months to go I reckon so thinks may change. |
