Hey dudes and dudettes I am getting my 15 trout delivered soon but still have 4 surviving SP from the great pump failure of 2011 that are about 150mm. Would it be ok to keep them in the FT with the trout or should I try and find a new home for them? |

G'day Jackfrost trout will eat anything that fits in there mouth trout V silver perch the trout will win that battle every time |

They may be ok until the Trout out grow them. The Trout will also attack the food much more aggressively and the SP may not get much/any. |

They'll be fine. My four big silvers have seen many trout and keep growing even with the aggressive feeding habits of trout. my four little murray cod are going ok with the big silvers too. |

I suppose this comes down to personal experiences a bit. Ive lost many a silvers to the aggresive trout when they make size. The point to make is that big trout WILL eat little silvers but it has been mentioed a few times in the past thet if you introduce small trout in limited numbers when you have larger SP that you may have had for some time they will kinda get along. Ive tested this to a point and I have lost a few small ones but the bigger SP seem to come out unscathed. Its a risk none the less. |

Just like a dog will live happily with a cat if they grow up together |

alright let me say this for newbies....if you have small SP.........dont put trout in with them. Because the trout will be twice there size in a month....and they will eat them. Without a doubt. Be warned. |

+1 Simo - same experience and Troutman says the same thing too - if the trout are introduced small and the SP are already there, usually not a problem. |

Personally we don't mix them here.. Have mixed tiny trout with big silvers and the little trout were stressing our big silvers to death, one every couple of days was carking it.. Took the silvers out and put them by themselves, no problems, not one more death.. But I know others have been mixing them without problems...

The way my silvers attack food , trout would have to fight for it, but, when it gets to trout time the water is cooler, and the silvers slow down so dunno. Never tried it and dont think I will |

Same experience.... although when I did eventually drain the tank down... I did find a few Silvers left... which had grown well... and looked healthy... |

Ive successfully grown my trout out this year in the same FT as my SP. |
