My jades are growing quickly which is great before winter but just hoping the FT temp over winter doesn't drop too low... have to rig up a little electric blanket for them maybe....

Hi Team, Don't really know what to expect with water temps through winter for my fish tank. I have Jade Perch so don't really want to see the water go much below 16 degrees apparently. It's sitting on between 22-25 most days lately. I have about 2000lt between FT/Sump and DWC. Not insulated and outdoors of course. What sort of temps would be likely for water over winter and if sub 16.... what are some great methods to combat such? |

Seems to be a few people up your way that successfully get Jade Perch through winter Madcap... Indeed Frank (Castaway on Murrays forum) is also on the Sunshine Coast... |

So If i stick a glass theomometer in the local creek I would get the approximate water temps of my locality? |

I was told fingerlings more sussceptable to the cold, established jades do better |

I wouldn't worry to much mate they should be ok just make sure they aren't over stocked which can cause stress and keep the tank salted. Last year I had small jades in my tank over winter, not sure what the water temp was but it was nearly impossible to hold my hand in the water for long periods of time and they are still all kicking I live in ipswich so it gets pretty cold. |
