Hi all, I'm hoping I can gets some advise regarding why I have lost 4 SP since I started my IBC AP system about 12 weeks ago. After loosing the first 3 we installed a bubbler and things looked to settle down after then. But today we have lost our 4th fish. I have read some stuff online about ich but I'm not sure if that's the problem or not. I have been trying to feed them more than normal recently, going from one a day feeding to twice a day, however I never scoop the uneaten food out of the tank, so I wonder if that could be related to them dying. Any suggestions or things to watch out for would be appreciated. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=-32.060306,115.861996 |

Hi Jon... how many fish do you have... and how much are you feeding them... If you've got uneaten feed on the bottom of your tank.. then you're obviously over-feeding them... Always remove any uneaten feed... and test your water... What are your water test readings... ammonia (which i suspect will be elevated), nitrite, nitrate... and water temperature... In the mean time.. stop feeding altogether... remove any "gunk" on the bottom of the tank... and pump continuously... salt to 1-2ppt... You probably lost your fish from lack of oxygen,,, and possibly ammonia... |

Sounds like you needed a test kit.. about 12 weeks ago... I'll have to work out how much a teaspoon of feed is... but roughly you should be feeding that many fish, of that size... about 40gms a day... You'd be better off feeding 20gms x twice daily... or feeding late afternoon.. when the water temps are warmer... and the fish more likely to feed well... |

I got my SP from Trevor about 3 months ago. I will likely get some more from him in the coming weeks, stocks permitting. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=-31.987345,115.853027 |
