A Marketing agency has apologised for a South Australian government-funded publicity stunt that backfired after media executives across the country received dead goldfish floating in bowls.

Not the dead goldfish bit - but the response from South Australia's RSPCA... that, at least in SA.... fish aren't animals...

Probably just for the purposes of preventing cruelty to animals - so all the fishermen don't get handcuffed and thrown in the slammer. Would make for some interesting shots of the days catch.

I've always wondered about that. I've met several vegetarians who say they are ok with eating fish because, in their words, "fish aren't animals." They then throw a royal fit if I point out that, scientifically, they are classified as part of the Animal kindom, but they continue to insist that "I'm a vegetarian, and I eat fish, therefore fish aren't animals."

If it was just one or two, I'd brush it off as wishful thinking and ignore it. But, nearly every vegetarian I've met, and a good number of vegans, say the same thing, and that just baffles me.
