I got told you have to feed them by hand by rubbing a paste form of feed on the "mouth"??

Not sure but would love to hear more.

The only Problem.. is if you have a low pH the shells will not last...

the thought is Good, but if you have a low pH system I think you would have a lot of problem's..

Once again Im only going off here say but I was told you grow them on ropes that hang into your tank. I would like to know more about this too, I would be suprised if no one has gone down this track yet or it hasnt been discussed on the forum.

I've tried searching on line for freshwater oysters and can't find anything..... Lots of freshwater mussel info, but nothing on oysters.. Except one person asking where you can buy them 4 years ago, and no response... :dontknow:

Smack me if I'm wrong but arn't oyster and mussel both strain type feeder's.. They pass the water over themselves and grab out of the water what they need..?

They would be interesting to have..

My understanding is the same - that they are filter feeders. The hand feeding thing does not sound right. I would think you would just want them in moving water between FT and GB. Haven't I read that people with mussels and clams saw an improvement in water quality?
