The Woodvale Fish and Lilly Farm are getting some barra in in a couple of weeks but does anyone else know where I can pick some up to compare prices. I am only looking for around 15-20 but $1 saved on each one is $15-20 saved :)

Challenger Tafe reckon they will have some end of Jan. They were $1 each @ 4-5cm last time

Don't buy the little ones from TAFE....

Buying small cheap ones is wasting your money because when winter comes around you will have tiny fish, then you will have to heat your water..

Of course this is assuming that you are not already set up for overwintering the fish inside in heated tanks.

Try golden ponds perhaps to see what they have? :dontknow:

Golden Ponds have 3-6cm Barra at $2.50. To small and too many varied sizes.

They also have Silver Perch at 12-15cm at $6 each though.

Cheers EB. What size should I be looking at over the next couple of weeks?

We bought ours from Goldern Ponds they were just fingerlings about 50mm, $2.50 each. Bought them home and popped in the pond with silver perch. No probs at all. Its been about 2 weeks now and no fatalities

remove them from the SP ASAP, otherwise you will lose all your SP, either to stress or the barra. forgive my bluntness, but more people have made this mistake than i care to remember

+1. Same species were never meant to live in the same area.

Well the barra might have helped remove the sp already...
