Yes they do, just like goldfish, but will grow quicker and provide more nutrients for the plants if also feed a good quality pellet as well.
They will also nibble on the roots of floating plants and the foliage that rests on the water er water cress, gota cola and mint varieties.

Yeah definitely.... Mine at home leave little marks all over the side of the tank where they scrape off the algae.. :headbang:
