12 fish total 2.54 kilo's

Still some nice fish in there around the 350 gram mark, down to as small as 130 grams.

Problem is Rupe, that 2 days in a row with no sun, and you are up the creek without a paddle. Overnight temps asre the killer. I have 3 x 300 watt heaters in there now, plus no cycling overnight. Temps maintaing around 20, so they are still eating but not much.
This latest batch were not purged, just filleted and the fillets soaked in mildly salty water for half an hour, and the flavour was 100% fine. Convinced now a very large protion of the requirement for purging is directly related to nitrate levels.

Ok, so have you been cutting down the feed for a couple of days before taking them out of the tank, or is it just that your growbeds are more productive now and sucking all the nutes/nitrates out?

ouch is right....... Short term pain tho, still plenty of fish to keep alive...

roz, generally feding barely anything, and plenty of healthy plants...= low nutes = clean water = imho, no need to purge.
