P.S... I happen to think your approach is the only way that you could possibly get Jades through down there...

Overwinter them... stock them at 100-150mm... and be prepared to eat them, or heat them end of April....

Stocking new season 10-25mm fingerlings in December... means overwintering them anyway I guess...

Last year I got new fingerlings at the start of Nov and they went in the greenhouse system a few days later. So from wee fingerlings to a few over 300g but the rest really too small but still edible. A bigger fish tank and more feed might have got them all to 300g :dontknow: I kept the two smallest and put them into the big community tank. The smallest one died months later when we had a very cold spell and the tank hit 7c, but the bigger one was still kicking so I fished him out and into the greenhouse system. He lasted well but I didnt spot a growth near his tail till too late and lost him .
That was last years lot, so I hope this years will be better

Will try for an updated vid tomorrow but its hard with the tank surrounded by black insulation that reflects everything in front of the tank LOL

Actually, here you go from new fingerling 3-5cm to this from start of Nov to 12th April 350g so they have the potential to grow very quickly. I had 15 in a 500L tank
They were in this aquarium for just a few days while I harvested the rest of the trout

So are you saying that you had them in an unheated tank from November onward???

There's no disputing that Jades grow quickly... at least in comparison to Silvers...

There growth rate is almost similar to Barramundi... with the advantage that they appear to be more cold resistant than Barra....

They Love to Eat!!! I'm Hoping to have mine outside By Late Oct as 100mm +

I'm Gunna Get Some more fingerling to see what i can do with them by april...

I think theres been enough success from last years experimenting to justify a lot more experimenting.
