My perch hit very hard as well. Often I throw some food in and nothing happens. I think they are not hungry until bang, one of the perch hits really hard, splashing heaps of water. If not for the cover I have on the fish tank - I would lose heaps of water this way.

Tank was 20 degrees when I checked it this morning. Very overcast though today so it was still 20 degrees at the end of the day. Not sure what is going to happen over the next couple of months :?

mine just starting to dip below 15C. have only been able to achive this by turning pump off overnight.

Haven't turned pump off at night yet - may have to start that soon, though will first have to drill a hole for water to drain out.

I set up the entire student system with auto siphons over the past 3 days - and all but one are working flawlessly - the bothersome one just needs fine tuning now :)
