A decent net is probably a good investment Stu... Thats high on my list of things I must get, I'm sick of cheat crap ones, my net has about a dozen cable ties holding it all together..

One of the ones the catch and release fisherman use on TV would be good. I keep meaning to have a look at BCF or somewhere for one. ATM I just have one of those oversized aquarium nets. It is not too bad - but handle has a bit of trouble taking the weight of a good sized Jade that is going rank

The fishes gills tend to get caught in mine and it can take a bit of effort to free them. I will try and source a decent one tomorrow.

Used a different net, a shadecloth lined one and it was much kinder on the fish. Still out of 15 brought inside, I have 2 upside down. I am now sure it is simply too cold for them, and while they are left to wallow around in the tanks undisturbed they are fine, as soon as I take them out, they crack it.
A bit like during the water change I did in the bath tonight. They were fine, only one upside down, the second one alternating. I pulled the plug, put the hose in from the rain tank and turned on the hot tap for a squirt and they went MENTAL. Six started doing fast laps of the bath and all the speedos ended up upside down. 3 of the six looked as good as dead, but have since recovered. Soon I will have all the fish out of the vat, at which point I will put the heaters in the polytank and take the vat right out of the system. Weather has turned nasty cold here, so I feel less water with the avgailable heaters and no cycling at night should make it almost possible to keep temps above 20, and they will eat at that no worries.

mate it is seriously extremely funny when they get going. It seem like one sets them off and off they go. There was a rucous this morning and I went in to find the big boy underneath the dirty clothes hamper about 2 metres away from the bath. Popped him back in- no worries LOL

Have they actually seen what happens when you put a decent size barra in a bucket. Stand back unless you wanna get wet  I am not trying to kill em les, I'm trying to keep the poor buggers alive while they get ready for the bbq.

I have found, if put them in a bucket of ice slurry with salt, they die within 30 seconds. On top of that 25% vodka would mean a whole bottle in 4 litres and that ain't cheap in my book  and a waste of perfectly good plonk :P

Yeah Mon, I was looking up clove oil dosages for fish and came across it, thought if your fish were gonna swim upside down then give them a good reason (and a headache) for it.

You might try clove oil to see if that calms them on the tank move...take (another) one for the team

Steve you really have to see the fish feeding in the monster
You can get splashed about 3m away and they can hit you with pellets too
