I've usually seen quite a bit higher feeding percentages for trout--at least when raised in larger ponds or raceways. The following (taken from a university site) is more typical in my experience:

Feeding

Trout feed according to their size and according to water temperature. Largest gains in growth will be made from October to mid-December and from late March to mid-May. Feeding activity will slow considerably during the coldest months of the winter, but occasional feeding is needed to maintain weight and health of fish. The following feeding guide is recommended for winter culture of trout:
Water temperature in degrees Amount of feed Frequency/week
Below 40 5% body weight 3-4 times
41 - 50 1% body weight 6-7 times
51 - 55 2% body weight 7 times
56 - 63 3% body weight 7 times
64 - 70 3.5% body weight 7 times

Develop a regular feeding schedule that allows daily feeding, twice per day if possible. Trout should be fed as close to the same time of day as possible. In open pond culture, feed should be delivered around all edges of the pond.

Cool must be different here..
I have found that feeding more than 2% will gain the Trout weight,
but added weight will be in fat deposits.

So my food ration is set between 1.5-2%
Also over here we have more trouble feeding during a heatwave not cold.
IMHO only

They are large fat deposits... Any use for them apart from feeding the dog? Fish fat would have to be good for something.

Fish oil from fat?
Got enough Omega 3 + 6 in the trout.
Would it make pectin?

i have 15 trout in 500 litre tank that is part of 1500 ltr system, last year i managed to grow trout to 700 + gms.
this year there are 90 silver perch from 50 gm to 500gm, a few Tandanis and 8 50gm bream in the same system.
about 450 ltrs grow bed and separate bio and particle filter.

i would hope to grow them a little larger this year say 800 gm for the largest before the heat starts to affect them.
