Hey I've got no psychological issue there Jaymie! I'm just unco, or fresh water fish are not as hungry/stupid as salt water fish. I LOVE fishing, I just can't do it in fresh water.

Ok Stuart, when are we going? I'm in, that's for sure.

KP,

Don't write off Golden Perch, from a good dealer they would already be weened onto pellets. They also have big temperature tolerance range when it comes to feeding, so will probably be growing when the Silvers aren't.

not written off, just put in the upgrade basket along with eels, trout and bass. All of which I'd love to have in my system

Cool,

KE and I should be getting some soon and will keep people posted as to their progress.
Though I still prefer Silvers from an eating quality point of view. (purely based on fish caught in the wild).

good to hear, I have 7 separate tanks, and ideally would have a different species in each...

Yeah, Half your luck. We are planning to rebuild our house in roughly two years time so everything has to stay smallish and mobile , unless it's things like retaining walls and such.

My system will allow me to have two species, with a small number in the sump of say tandanus (still want to get some) so probably silvers and GP in the main "tanks".. I will need to get more grow beds though.

as do I, more GBs always more... I'd love some tandanus too, I've heard they are good eating. Do you know... will tandanus live only on the bottom, or will they use the entire depth of the tank? I have from experience seen they like hte bottom, but have never had more than 2 in a tank.

tandanus use the whole tank.....depending on how hungry they are and where the food is...in my experience lol...........got some in me indoor tank, they also take ages to grow....but seriously is it a good idea to have the different species sharing the same return water??????????? or u having one gb per species?????????

atm my plans have all the water shared between tanks.
I will be having only SP to begin with, and if it works, I'll go with more species.
Why do you think that it is a bad idea per say BK?

I'm confused, are you suggesting that nasty bacteria will be spread between the fish?
Why is this not an issue in aquariums, where there are many different species?
I have had a look, and not found much helpful here, I obviously am not looking at the right threads.
