They are big fish. It's amazing how strong they get when they're over 500g. I've never considered fishing for trout before but now I can start to see the attraction.

Interesting colouration compared to other pics or is it just your camera.

How long did it take to grow that one?

Actually OBO you did pretty well with the growth of your trout. Half of the of the ones I have here are in the 500 - 600gm range with the rest mainly between 600 - 700. I only have a few from this years crop that are over 700gms. Still, I expect to have a few hit 1kg by christimas as I did last year.
November seems to be the month when I get the best growth rates often achieving FCRs of 1:1

Faye, I put him back in the tank, maybe keep him/her as a future breeder. I have been smoking a few of the 500gm runts lately.

Not worth growing the Browns really Rup as they are so slow growing you would be lucky to get a 300gm fish before the weather got to hot.

Hey there C1, good to see you getting a few feeds of fish.

Rup, as far as I am aware the pigmentation in the pelletts only affects the colour of the flesh. Dead fish are usually darker than live ones (the one in my photo was still alive) or the other factor is that trout will change colour according to their surroundings. My tanks are a light blue on the inside where as from memory OBO's set up is with the use of black plastic.

Yes been having a feed or 2...
Only takes a few seconds for the colour to go out of the trout.
