You guys are way to spoiled.. 6-8 years ago in Perth there were bugger all available unless you had contacts in the indusry, my silvers 7-8 years ago cost about $5-6 or more for piddly little 5cm things from an aquarium shop.

In WA also known as Wait Awhile its not uncommon to have to pay more for anything useful and if its anything that might be beneficial to someone its usually opposed heavily (late night trading is a good example and recycled waste water at the moment is another one coming up).
As frustrating as it is i still love it here and dont mind having to pay that bit extra

Might be a very good idea to dose them with salt to help with transplant- I mean stress due to transport. :)

I have got SP and Trout from Golden Ponds and been happy with the price and service there.
I dont know why Golden Ponds cop such a bad rap :dontknow:
. I paid $5 each for my trout which were of various sizes from about 150mm to 200mm. I only bought 7 so the outlay was not much. If you are only buying small amounts then of course you will pay more.
I would recomend Golden Ponds from my personal experiance.
:flower:

Did you buy your trout from the big tanks out back or the front of the store tanks?

They came out of the big tanks out the back.

Dunno..... :dontknow: Just have always had them from out the back... Perhaps quantity, I think the smallest order I have got from them was 50, generally 100 or more for most orders..

Yes, I think most people who had issues with bad stock got their fishes from the front. I think the fishes in front are held in tanks with insufficient filtration.

Many aquarium shops only have aeration running most of the time, they move canister filters around from tank to tank, plugging them in to filter the water... And they use the same filter for banks of different fish...

I've seen this at at least 2 aquarium shops before.. Next time you go into one, have a close look at the banks of aquariums, often there is no pumping, no water flow except the air..

IMO, that is essentially how GP run their front of store tanks.. hence most fishes don't do well, and why they get a bad name from those who buy smaller quantities from them.

Whoo Hoo. . . . .
I might have to go see the cod, I have a tank just suited for one or two of the lazy old buggers, then I can set about reducing the population of mozzie fish in the local ponds!
