Brian, if your going to scan it and email it, I'll take a copy. If the cement and concrete institute has it online, would you post a link to it? I'm going hunting for it now...

Ao+, don't know anything about fish eating fat, but I'm interested in that tank design as well.
Just looked through all those pictures. You did a great job with that tank and bed design. Nicely done.
Have any updated pictures of plant growth?

Now that I realize there is a need for the info I will work a bit more speedily on it. First hurdle is to actually locate my copy of the damn manual. :? I find the older I get the more time I spend looking for stuff that I had a vague memory of putting somewhere 'special' but then can't for the life of me remember where that special place was. Perhaps the c and c institute does have it online. Will give them a call. :wave1:

Checked out the c and c institute and the book is not available online. There is one for building a fish pond though. Also I can't get hold of them as their phone lines are down due to lightning. Perhaps I can persuade them to put the farm dams manual online. Hold thumbs.

Thanks Brian for offering to share the info; I am very interested in getting access to the manual and also your e-book if possible. I haven't looked in on your system thread for a while, I might just take another look right now.

I guess it probably wouldn't help if I offered you my sympathy over the Springboks :) I know how you feel since my football team recently lost the Grand Final.

Thanks Fishtopia. Never been a big rugby fan though. Actually  to say I never even watched a single game and didn't even know we won it last time, which is weird... I must have been holed up on the farm that year, totally incommunicado... no TV or internet.

I can't find the manual so the cement and concrete institute are sending me a new one. The third one now as the first one got so grubby from being used onsite that I had to ask for another one which has now vanished. E-book coming along. Should be done soon.

Sorry for the hijack Ao+

My fish eat fat also! I switched from Lone Star Catfish Pellets to Purina AquaMax Dense Culture and they really enjoy the new food.
The AquaMax has a lot more fat. It is pig fat. Who wouldn't like more pig fat?
Of course they promote it as being "Higher-Energy" and "Easy-Digested," not "WOW More Piggy Fat than regular fish food"
The catfish are happy so I am happy.

I have it in my grubby little paws. :headbang: Now just to scan it which will require a visit to my brothers house for much scanning activity. Will see if I can make it into a pdf once done scanning, and publish it to the web somewhere where you can retrieve it.

We should change this thread to 'my fish eat fat in a round brick tank'

I'm not the lead hijacker, but I certainly did participate. LOL

I have no idea if it's bad for fish to eat fat or not. If they eat something and still grow, let em have it. There is protein in fat, and they wouldn't eat it if they didn't like it.

What else do you feed them, A0+? You said you had Tilapia and something else?

My Tilapia don't eat much. Too cold for the little buggers. I am thinking of getting a diy solar heater built and run a small solar panel and pump to try and heat the water. I gave up on the compost heating thing mainly because of lack of time. and the compost materials I have seem to burn too quickly to be useful.

Actually, fat is fat and protein is protein. And carbohydrate is carbohydrate. Those are the three food categories. Protein and carbohydrate have 4 calories per gram and fat has 9 calories per gram.

Fat and protein can both be present---like in bacon---or any other kind of meat. Or BSF larvae and worms. Isn't the advice to render off the fat if you're wanting to feed lots of BSF and/or worms? To protect the health of the fish?
