I can't believe it, Joel with Tilapia. I have not been on the site since Nov. and have over 3400 posts. When did the new plan come about? Looking forward to our new conversations of this very interesting fish.

Thanks for the e-mail monya, I sure have missed you all. The end of the year is so crazy around here and then in the middle of all this I got sick. Great to be back on board, but I will not get to read all these.

I still have a cough that won't go away, and you are right, back on track folks. We need pictures of Tilapia, anybody have some? Oh I do, but have to get Will to help me. I will put some pictures here and the rest on my site. See ya there.

Reading this thread makes me very interested in trying Tilapia. I hate going to buy fish because even goldies are expensive for what they are. Also they are relatively slow growing and boring and having them breed without eating all of their own eggs is a pain in the butt.

It would be good to have some Tilapia in an inside aquarium to watch their antics and then also have some put to work in the AP system too.

Definitely a toss-up between Silvers and Tilapia, Tilapia I would need to heat in Winter, and Silvers I need to keep restocking from farms. hmmm.

J7 has kindly offered some ( thanks mate :) ) and I might take him up on it after Xmas if he still has them.

I have my brother's gf's aquarium here in storage, she knows I have the bug and so has already offered it to me for use indoors, its a 5footer, around 350L I think and has a heater to suit and lots of nice decorative rocks (it used to house cichlids).

Hey Simmo, if J7 runs out, the little babies he gave me are bound to grow pretty quickly.. Let me know how you go.

I love the colours!

Are these a hybrid?

How many generations do you think it could it take to breed colour like this into wild-type mossambiques?
