Agree Seteve, bought some "goldie" food and checked out the SP - $9 for same size, this tends to inspire me to put in a greater effort on the system (just after I finish my geriatric nap  )

Hi Red swirl,
I'm in sydney too and would be interested in sharing an order of perch with you from wherever we can find them. I'm still waiting on some irrigation parts so it will be a few weeks till i'm ready - (oh and I'm due to have a baby tomorrow so I reckon thats gonna slow down my 'outdoor' plumbing activities somewhat) - but if I find a source I'll definatley let you know and please keep me in mind also so we can hopefully reduce costs!
Nice to have a fellow aquaponist in Sydney!
Cheers
Aeon

Thanks Aeon!!! Don't worry, I'm ages off getting a system set up ... I just thought I'd find out where I can get fish before I go too far.

Hope all goes well tomorrow (or whenever), and give yourself some time to rest ;)

Thanks everyone for all your well wishes!
We got a lovely baby shower gift from a friend - a soft plastic chewy fish bowl. The sides have water in them which makes it look like a real fish bowl and then there are all these little soft toy fishies you can throw in and out of the bowl - so the baby will have her own AP system as soon as she gets home.
We were also given a tiny baby size apron with all these soft plush gardening tools attached so she'll be ready to go as my assistant extroadinaire straight away!

At least while i'm playing the waiting game I can amuse myself on this forum for hours.
Cheers everyone
Aeon

Hi red swirl
Have you had a look at the livefish.com.au site?
They are selling silver perch with home delivery. i think they are a little more $$ than if you purchased from a fish farm but at least you can buy in small numbers as you indicated you only wanted a few.
i think getting them delivered from a fish farm is where the cost would go up for us so i will probably get fifty from livefish as delivery is included in the price. i think about 5 bucks per fish from memory.

Good luck with your AP plans.
Aeon
