By the way: I've read that punching holes in the ice is disruptive/painful/irritating to fish. I don't know if that's actually true, but it makes sense.

Hmmm wonder if I should drill them then... I can definitely see how beating the ice with a hatchet could cause stress, the voice and vibration....

Easiest way I've found to make a hole is with a trickle of warm water - as long as you're not somewhere cold enough that hot water will freeze in midair, it should work for you

The IBC is completely frozen.... temps dropped here -35C last Friday, into Saturday, and today its -26.... I tried to
Drill to put more air under... couldn't get through.... :( oh well... the 9 gold fish are fishcicles

Normal temps for winter here is -15c at coldest.. the arctic freeze ruined that!

...make sure you remember to check on it once things start thawing, and get the water and dead fish out of there before it warms up and you get fish soup. :shock:
