I lost 11 trout yesterday. All at or over 30cms and 500gms. But I gained a few friends

lot of trout farmer complain about fish being stolen... Offen it's only the birds... cat can be an option
Or in your situation they jump first and then bird or cat make their job.

And yes trouts are used to jump (when it's time to eat) and got really good eye - I lost 2 of them just cheking O² during transport...

There was just enough place for them to jump and I took a fish in the head...
