Damn, so close!

Is personal pick-up with a big esky and air pump, say for 80 fingerlings, the only safe and viable way to get them here?

Got your email...

Esky.... depends on size, weather/temp.. distance... how big fish are... etc...

Meeting half way... probably easier/better.. to bag/oxygenate... and foam box them...

I'll email you shortly....

Its been mentioned by myself and members here that they are after a few options for fish suppliers and locations around NSW Rupe, are you able to provide this information because it seems you would rather PM everyone and keep it to yourself.

Are any of these still operational or able to supply fish to the public of NSW for aquaponics?

But none of those places sell Trout Charlie!!
I think Namoi has closed up and most of the others also sell Silver Perch but its not written in your list.
There are plenty of trout farms around NSW if one takes the time to search for them.

And if you look through the early forum posts Charlie.... (possibly before you were here)...

You'd see that I I probably posted everyone of those hatcheries at one time or another....

And from memory... even did a thread on Neil at Aquablue....

As Troutman says... and everyone is entitled to do... people can research, and buy from anyone they wish to...

I've supplied to people before... as a convenience... to save them having to individually drive to a hatchery.. for a few fish.... in fact I even deliver to their door...

And, yes... I usually take it off the forum... as a courtesy....

What's the difference between what I've done in the last few years to supply trout to NSW aquaponicists...

And what Troutman does for members in WA???

I was unsure and that is why I asked if any of those places could help. I just took the list from google and posted here to possibly help NSW members.

Yea cause that isnt like finding a needle in a hay stack. This thread is here and now and I think you avoided posting up other options. Both myself and another member asked if you could do so... which you ignored. Oh, yea, but you probably missed those posts.. lol

Once again, this thread is here and now and is titled 'trout fingerlings in NSW' and not everyone has access to you or you to them... even though Im sure you would like it that way.

And thats good for you.... Im glad you pointed it out for everyone.

Troutman breeds trout and sells fish as a business. Your a middleman. But that aside Im not sure where your going with this. All I and another member was asking is if you could post up some options other than yourself for the good of the thread and NSW members. Obviously not on your agenda and a rant was a more favourable option. Why so 'on the back foot' Rupe?

The thread started with Sheidsy asking where NSW members get their trout fingerlings from, and that he’d tried to PM me…

Quote:
I've tried to get in touch with RupertofOZ but my private messages aren't working

And I responded as such…

Yes… you’re right Charlie… I did miss “Rockman”’s post… and I no... I didn’t PM him either... in case you're wondering…

Your post was answered by “Jet” … viewtopic.php?p=372851#p372851

And yes I did replied to a PM that Jet sent me… asking if “I was doing a trout run again this year”… (not that it's anyones business - no offence meant...)

“Rant”… “agenda”… “back foot”…. What on earth are you on about Charlie… :dontknow:

I’ve always updated members on stock availability in NSW… whether through myself… or generally... in response to posts… or due to enquiries…

And made absolutely no secret of the fact that I’ve been prepared to do a bulk group buy of trout… or other fish stocks… for the benefit of members… and/or because I’ve been asked to…

2013…
Well I haven’t posted anything (yet)... about Trout this year… :

No hidden "agenda" there Charlie...

Why have I done so…

Partly because I have contacts within most NSW.. (and other)... hatcheries… many of whom might courier small orders directly… within a limited area…

Many wont… and/or discourage “drop ins”…. but will do a bulk delivery, or allow (in my case).. a bulk pickup.. with the appropriate transport tank and oxygen… which I have…

Partly because I have a large enough tank to hold a bulk buy/delivery…. and capability of delivering to the clients door… or by offering the option of pickup of fingerlings… within a few hours of most members…

Which makes things easier for members…. saving them the time, petrol etc of a 12 hour day +… two way trip to source them themselves… and because the price is usually as good, or better… than if they did so themselves….

Now all of the above has been done so openly on the forum… within the BYAP “advertising policy”… to the best of my knowledge… exactly as Troutman has done…

Charlie wrote:
RupertofOZ wrote:

yea sure. Lol

And yes Charlie… I’ve been aware of possible issues regarding the forum and the forum advertising policy… and as such… other than my approved signature link… I don’t reference my website within posts… and suggest that people PM or email me…

As your request for fish stock suppliers in NSW… please reference this thread…

viewtopic.php?p=378609#p378609

And for Trout supplies… please reference this thread…

viewtopic.php?p=372851#p372851

I’ll add one to that… Snowy Mountain Trout…

http://www.freshtrout.com.au/live-trout/

Generally, they are a grow out facility… and don’t encourage “gate sales”… but have recently advertised "live fish sales"…

Quote:
We supply live trout for in-shop and in-restaurant aquarium display, as well as for farm dam stocking. Whilst live fish are considerably more expensive because of transport costs

I know that they have delivered small orders to the Canberra region in the past… would they courier further afield… I have no idea…

Do I, or have I sourced fish stock from any of the above… on occasions... yes… even Arc-En Ceil (Nundle).. recently…

Do I source the bulk of my fish stocks… trout, or Silver Perch from the above lists… no…

Most of my stock is supplied from private facilities, who are primarily grow out facilities…

Am I going to list them.. no… because they don’t want to (generally) deal direct to the public..

And why would I Charlie… do you expect Joel, Murray, Troutman, or Yabbies (Mr. Damage)… or any other businesses… to list their suppliers on the forum …

FYI Charlie… as far as my trout supplies… (not that it's really anyones business...)

In 2009…. About 85% went to members active on the aquaponics forums, 15% to private dams…

In 2010… About 60% went to members active on the aquaponics forums , 20% to private dams.. and 20% to inactive members of the aquaponics forums, or new enquiries…

In 2011… About 50% went to members active on the aquaponics forums , 25% to private dams.. and 25% to inactive members of the aquaponics forums, or new enquiries…

In 2012… About 40% went to members active on the aquaponics forums , 30% to private dams.. and 30% to inactive members of the aquaponics forums, or new enquiries…

2013.. Of the enquires I’ve had to date… 50% have been for dam stock… 40% new enquiries.. and the remaining 10%.. from mostly inactive members of the forums…

But I haven’t sent out the group e-mail list yet… I don’t individually PM list members through the forum Charlie…

In fact most of the people on the group list... aren’t even on the BYAP forum… or actively anyway…

Happy now mate... we all good... :D

Please note all the smilies...

Slow down there mate, take a breath. lol

So to my original question, and to save everyone a lot of time wading through the unrequired speel about yourself, a fairly reasonable answer could have been..

Which would have had to do.

I think the other thing here is that most Trout farms are located some distance away from Sydney so for most people having them delivered by Rupe saves themselves a bit of a journey. Still, some people like a day out of town or a weekend away and pick up their fish as part of the trip so having an up to date list of fish suppliers in every state would be handy for many people I am sure.

For sure.

I would love an updated list of all victorian hatcheries that are willing to deal with the public.
Or even ones that deliver interstate like Aquablue do.

Don't know whats got you really antsy at the moment Charlie :)
If I was over there and needed edible fish I would probably get them from Rupert; he may be a prick at times  but at least he wouldn't sell you crap fish and would talk to you.
Over here I would try and get them from Troutman, same reason apart from 1 above (I assume) :)

What... so Troutman would talk to you... but sell you crap fish....

(For the uninitiated... Troutman sells premium fish stock)

What do you mean Sleep? I thought my question was fairly simple.... and required a simple answer, for the better of the thread.

And hey..... there may just be a very good chance that I may be moving to NSW.... in approximately 9 months.... that may be slightly stressing me out... kinda.. :shifty:
