Nobody ever reads the fine print.

I know a young lady (around 2 years old) who spent so much time in her naughty area (a chair) that she started to decorate it and the surrounding area with finger painting and some odd thing made of wool, so it would be a little more pleasant to spend time there :)

I'm guessing she'll grow up to be a diplomat.

I hope these crazy two year olds get their shi[p] together before I check into the old folks home. I'm going to need some really good administrators on my side in another 40 years.

You crack me up Bull..

In all honesty (hijack/gone off track/appologies/not related to fish bully thread), my 4 year old thinks the "naughty chair" is a tip top time to express his emotions all over the floor... via his bladder. There is a common trend here.. quite often when going to bed ( and not happy about it), he likes to express his dismay... in his toy box.

Mrs Charlie believes that possibly it had something to do with me letting him relieve himself on the back lawn at an early age... with me. When I needed to go.... when I 'had' to go.

I detest.

He's probably got ADD.

Ask any doctor.

You understand, right, Bull....?

I'm never willing to commit to understanding.

I just ask the questions :)

But back on topic, night time or cover seems to fix everything, so ...

Is your fish tank covered?

My two fish (one bully, one survivor ) seem to get on just fine at night, even when I remove the hide I put in for the bully.

I spoke to someone who teaches psych at Adelaide uni, and he seemed to think that it was within the bounds of normal animal behaviour for a bully to just be scared, and stop the behaviour when a hide, or darkness is provided.

I like your findings with the hide. Im assuming its a dominance thing? Protecting ones area/habitat.

Fish activity wthin a group is one thing that has astonished me within AP.. Im constantly corrected and its very amusing and see what new fingerlings or species will project on the group.

Recently, (if you have been following my thread), you will see that the introduction of carp ranging in numerous sizes has caused fatalities. What I havnt spoken about is some of the other cool stuff Im watching. Things like behaviour changes in the older SP.. like now they are swimming closer to the surface and being more interactive. Almost following the relaxed nature of the Carp.

Ive seen this before when I introduced trout to my system that entirely housed SP. The trout in time took on the sooky and scared type temper that the SP have. At that stage I would have posted that the minority takes on the temper but in this case the SP (who out weight the carp ten fold) are taking on a more relaxed temper and finally coming to the surface whilst Im around feeding etc..

I still don't know for sure what means what, but I like watching everyday and seeing what develops as the days go by.

I always planned on setting up a situation where they fed by coming into the net. Then I could pull out any one of them without causing any alarm.

But that was when I could remember how my demand fish feeder project worked.

The plan was to use the fish activated demand feeder to dump all feed into a net that would hold the feed off the bottom, but also mean that each and every fish that ever wanted to eat would have to park itself right in the net.

Someone remind me to finish that project, if I haven't don't it within the next few months :)

Yep.

The introduction of a net, catching fish and even moving fish does change habits and activities, stress levels rise and quite possibly change behaviour for some time or possibly cause group changes. I too have experienced this as Im sure many have.

How long this lasts Im not so sure.

I hate moving or catching my fish with a net for this reason. Now days I like to catch my fish (intended for eating) with a line and tackle. It seems to have a lot less effect on them.

A mass trout harvest on the other hand is different. One big net and catch all the fish as quickly as possible for reduced stress and better flesh quality.

p.s. there is an unfinished project you promised us BW..
