Mark they eat most things but only small quantities, except for Gambusia, and acording to Jim and Adrian from MTI both have used canned shrimps, but at $2.00 per 200gms it's a tad expensive

if you had a tank with some tilapia you would be able to produce lots more live feed than you could with gambusia I think?

Running red fin maybe a bit debatable in WA. Running Tilapia especially south of Perth is probably lock him up and throw away the key time. :naughty:

Grunta we put 30 Gam's in a soak less than a year ago and now literally millions, I doubt anything will out breed Gam's, someone down here has tried Tilapia without huge success, the water I think is too cold

Hope all that requested got copies of the paper I got from NZ, I haven't managed to read much of it, need some time off (maybe I should change profession and become a teacher  ) but have not much success with much feed wise other than worms, will go and get some Gambusia and give them a treat this weekend, maybe when trout go in they may follow them to the pellets :dontknow:

I'd be feeding Gambusia to the trout ! Once they're big enough.

Then you need to read that paper I gave you a copy of about the growth rates of barra fed gambusia vs barra fed on pellets !!

Protein: 59% (vs 45% in pellets)

Also, they have about the same fat % and only half the carbs of pellets. This gives them a much better protein:energy (P/E) ratio, which is a good thing and explains the better growth rate.

a reddie carked it yesterday and was severely chewed on the back end, it was a much smaller one than the others and I surely think they are cannibals despite what I have read, BSF loved him anyway :thumbright:
