we probably don't have much information here that would help you with UK suitable fish, apart from the trout info. Maybe if you google fish farms/aquaculture for your region. :?

How about native gudgeons? you can get them from http://www.aquablueseafoods.com.au/index.shtml they are small 10-15mm that are excellent for mosquito control.

White clouds are another cheap cold water fish that you can breed up. I started out with them... Make good food, also nice too look at...

Woooot hey I have bred some feeders in me time hey!
Danios are good (breed with marble trays), as are whiteclouds, golden medaka I found a little tricky, platy or swordfish if it stays warm enough, rosey barbs are very good once again marble tray the breeders, paradise fish are a fun one too and apart from being aggro are very forgiving.
All of these fish are great as mozzie control, sell well to petshops and make good feeders....
But the perfect fish in my eyes is the pacific blue eye. It doesn't eat frog spawnings or it's own young, sells well, is a pretty native and ya bigger stuff will happily eat them. Gets a better price than white clouds too.

DOn't use gambusia... those guys control enough water as it is lol

Don, feel like setting up a feed fish breeding section under the "fish" section and take up through the most reliable ways of doing each one?

Steve

Hmmm...I have a rainwater tank or two that need mozzie control...could I throw some little guys in there and forget about them? The water is only likely to be used for watering the garden.
