The fish in my aquarium - which are supposed to all be Jade perch except 1 silver, vary in size significantly, partially because they varied when I bought them.

Interesting thing is that when I bought my first batch of jades (which were signed as silvers) from the pet shop as feeder fish (only 5 of the 20 lived) I seem to have picked up 1 fish that does not grow at all. I actually suspect now it is a gudgeon or something that got mixed up with the others.

When I bought the fish from the fish farm, I got 15 jades and 1 silver which I put in the aquarium (as well as the large silvers which I put in the pond). In the aquarium batch, there is one fish which is about 5cm (a bit smaller than the others) which is very agressive and also has a bit of a different shape and look. It has quite a bit of black on its fins, but other than that looks very much like a silver bream. I reckon it is not a jade at all. You should see him give the fish that are twice his size some curry. I'll take a picture one day and see if anyone can identify him.

Bit of a worry when your source mis-indentifies the fish it sells and gives you a 5:20 survival ratio. maybe you should have kept that poll running longer :)

I guess you can't expect too much when you buy your fish as feeders. The oscars or whatever you are feeding them to couldn't really give a shit I wouldn't think.

Monya - funny you should say that, think there might be a prawn, a calamari and a seafood stick in the lot I got from #$% Fish  . But seriously, they may all end up as seafood extender  .
