I have 30 rainbow trout in a pond approx 2000 lt, the trout are still to small to harvest but we're expecting a hot summer this year. Has anyone had any luck putting ice in the water, or more aeration?

If there is say 3000litres of water in your system, you'll need about 25kg of ice to lower the temp 1 degrees. I entended my season in 2013 with the use of huge quantities of ice, ~50kg of ice per degree of cooling.
I've got 80-100kg of ice ready for emergency use ATM, but no more freezer space to make any more.

If they are still small

I would suggest bring them inside you will just lose them outside

Do small daily water changes

Tip the water in your system to keep plants going

Lot of work for sure but you will have monsters in 12 mths time

Around 24celcius your facing trouble

You will have to test the water regularly until you work out how much water to change / feed rate ect

Treat it like a large aquarium do your research

you could include a small swirl filter

I started with a few trout and wished I kept them for the second year I only had 9 so could have done it easy

I have had trout at 26 27 deg a few times with huge amounts of air

I have a Question about the water temperature. I have been informed that at a certain level under the ground the temperature is at a constant 50 F. Therefor if one were to bury an IBC and use a pump from that tank or sump, would that be enough to control the water in the fish tank/IBC container by a constant flow from the sump tank?

In one word no as soon as you pump your water to the grow bed at say At 60 or 70 the water takes on that temp
Also you will find the constant temp is much deeper than you think15 ft or so

The other problem is that you wont have enough surface area to get rid of the heat from the water, but once you have run the pump for a while the ground will heat up, so it wont offer any cooling. The earth is a very poor conductor- you need a huge area of contact if you want to dump significant amounts of heat into it. Having very wet soil helps, but you need to go down a few meters to get to the stable temperature zone, which will be within a degree or so of your annual average temperature. Here it is about 16C.

That sounds like a no go then, have to put my thinking cap on again.
