It's always tough to say with fish problems like this. The injury could be from a small predator like a dragonfly larvae which has a piercing weapon - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RD5wsoycsqI. The one in the video is actually a damsel fly larvae not a dragon fly larvae but they hunt in similar fashion and you get the idea I think. I have lots of these in my grow beds but not in the tank (probably because larger fish eat them)

It could also just be the site of an infection :dontknow:

The fish looks like it was not eating as you mentioned. If you haven't salted the water in your fish tank I would do this to 1ppt - 1KG per 1000L or 1gm per L (un-iodized and no caking agents). If you have strawberry plants, they are about the only plant that should be affected. The salt helps the fish with nitrite toxicity and with stress.

You may want to take a magnifying glass and see if you see any indication of parasites as well.

edit: Here's a better video showing a dragon fly larvae and how it works - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W557aSVdW_g
