I am going to be starting a mainly aquaculture system and I was wondering if I bought 150mm-200mm fish and raised them for 3 or 4 month about how big would they be by then? Also I think I am going to use a 20,000L frame swimming pool for a tank, How many could I stock? Thanks

I wonder if you should be also suggesting what "filtering" you will be providing...

Such a tremendous limit on capacity, will be placed on it, by the need to keep the TAN below toxic levels....

I have started a simple FISH only system and have noted the apparent conflict between temperature (LOW. For trout) and the poorer that expected nitrification process, resulting in undesired water change outs....
..

And... you would need to factor in the likely much higher cost of purchasing larger fish for a shorter grow out time..

How long is a piece of string? :dontknow:

+1 to Buidoi....

I have 20 trout in my AP system and being new to AP myself and from the little I know filtration is the biggest deciding factor in 'how many fish can I stock' type questions, particularly with trout as they need very clean, well aerated water.

Unless you provide detailed information regarding the system I doubt you're going to get very specific information.

If the fish could handle it I could do a complete water change every day if I had to? Would I need to have a bio-filter to convert the ammonia to nitrates or can I dump it straight on the plant and the plants still get the nutrition?

150mm-200mm fish over here are 3-5 bucks versus 1-3 for 75-125mm and I would be selling the fish when they reach the right size so I wouldn't mind the extra price.

Don't take this the wrong way but me thinks you need to do some more reading judging by these questions.

A complete water change everyday - 20,000 litres?!?!?!? Seems a bit odd let alone wasteful.

If this is an aquaculture setup, where do the plants come into things??

It's not quite as simple as ammonia being converted to nitrates as there's bacteria to convert ammonia to nitrites, then different bacteria to convert nitrites to nitrates.

Think you have a bit more reading to do (as we all do!) ;)

I do need to read a lot more, I said it is possible to do a complete water change each day do I think its needed no, but finding material to read (that answers your questions) isn't always easy
