It's a big ask I know. I'm looking to get hold of some Tench for my aquaponics set-up here in QLD. My research has led me to discover they are not on the banned/noxious species list here. Just wondering if any Victorians/Tasmanians know a good spot to catch and send some up, or have access to them via local aquaponics clubs etc. I know there are plenty down there but sadly not up here. Happy to pay a very good price for them & not too fussed about size but would prefer smaller. Let me know. Cheers!

If it is not native to Qld do not bring it in. They do not state every fish no acceptable but the policy is if it is NOT native to Qld it is not allowed. Where in Qld are you big bloody state.

There are literally hundreds of different species that are available in any local Aquarium store here in QLD that are not native to QLD. If they are not declared as a noxious species what's the difference between a Tench & a Cichlid?

Generally illegal in most states to catch fish and take them home live without a permit, definitely illegal to send interstate without translocation permit/fisheries permission.

Unfortunately fisheries generally want to group aquaponics under aquaculture regulations while the aquarium trade flies under the radar to an extent. And fisheries have been known to monitor AP forums... :dontknow:

Take from that what you will... :thumbleft:

Thanks for the heads up mate. And for not coming across like a dickhead like the last bloke. I wasn't aware of all that legislation. Looks like I'll stick with the Jade Perch. Thanks again!

I presume you were referring to me as the DICKHEAD so what is your problem *sigh*. I stated the facts and the asked where in Qld you are as it is a bloody big state. It is easier for members to give advise for particular localities as what works in Brisbane mat not work in Cairns or Mt Isa.

Take that this is one member who will waste no more effort on you. Take that as a dickheads advise and stick it up your fornicating annus.

Comments like yours is why a lot of long time members like myself rarely visit the site these days, good luck.

Responding with petty name-calling to someone who merely answered a question you asked doesn't do you any favours.

Keep up that sort of thing and you'll soon find that people won't be particularly patient with you, as demonstrated by ccBear's follow-up post. I suggest re-assessing the way you choose to respond to feedback, and don't take offense when none is given. Lashing out in those instances will only serve to provide you with actual occasions where offense is given.

And if you think that what ccBear said was offensive, you really need to check out some other forums. Some are pretty brutal.
