Hi all. Our IBC AP system is up and running. Now we are looking at chasing up around 10 - 12 trout fingerlings (preferred) or even silver perch to put into the tank.

Where can I get them from? I know it's not a big order but that's all we can run in our system.

Also where do we buy food for the fingerlings?

Hi,

We got our Silvers from Alan at Jamberoo Aquaculture, other side of Wollongong. He usually has feed too. Don't know if there is anyone closer to you but maybe its an option for you.

Thanks Ozgal. I will check them out. Might be a trip to the water park with the kids too.

..
and you could try "FreshByNature" at Gerringong..

His web site is pretty basic and I suspect that he does not have the time to maintain it with details

I understand that he is taking orders for "Over-Wintered" SILVER fingerlings, and so are around 100mm long..

Not a bad way to start as you have REAL fish from the start.. even if you pay a premium
..

What's your water temperature like on a 30c day?
Depending on how you are set up you could get away with all year trout where you are.

Ben, We have only just set up our AP system so I don't know how hot the water will get. Based on experiences from our other water sources it won't get up to 24DegC. I would much rather grow trout than silver perch. I might just put in some goldfish until I can get hold of some trout fingerlings.

Probably a very good thought..
Jumping in with fairly expensive fish, could result in a new thread "HELP - my new fush are dying" :dontknow:

Try some goldies.. Add some CYCLE from the pet shop, and get the CYCLE going..
and - don't be bashful... have a good Pee in there when no one's looking.. but not if on medications.. :bootyshake:
..
