And they would probably taste quite muddy, regardless of filtration capacity.

taste is about purging fish before harvesting the right way,
stocking density is bm(biomass)/m3.... not fish numbers
system capacity is: feed per 24h/acceptable water quality

wouldn't put more than 20 in an IBC but he also said that he doesn't do AP and apparently the guy who does who is also the guy who maintains the website. He has appreently assured him that 100 fish in an IBC is fine if you know what you are doing. :upset:

I'm only a novice but all my research before setting up my single IBC suggested 20 max and prob around 12 to get a good size.

Just wondering, using 20 per IBC as an example, if you had 2 IBCs then you'd go for 40. Would it be possible to connect (underwater) the 2 IBCs with a short length of 90mm pipe (think tunnel) to effectively increase the 'ok' stocking density to 50?

How would connecting 2 IBC's together increase your stocking density?

Many people have connected multiple IBC's together so they only need one pump. Simply connecting them together will not change your tank room or GB capacity though.

lunchguy, not really no, not unless your tunnel was big enough to support 10 itself.

Remember guys that we are not talking about a statement made on the stocking rate for an IBC. The IBC was mentioned as an example of a general stocking rate.

On further reflection, not sure how it would... I was thinking the fish would have more 'room' as they could swim between tanks but that doesn't actually make sense!
