Hi, apart from my introduction, this is my first post here.
I'd like to clarify my thoughts on edible fish species suitable for south east Qld which growout in a reasonable time. Any thoughts are appreciated.
From what I know Tilapia
would be ideal if they were legal to possess. Since they are able to breed in captivity with high growth rates and being tasty. But they are a definite no-no for us.
Recommended species include -
- Jade perch
- Golden Perch
- Silver perch
Possible species include -
- Murray cod
- Barra (growout in the warmer months)
- Trout (over winter if one managed to find a supplier in Qld)
- Spangled perch (if I can accept fairly small fish)
Pretty sure I'm on the right path here but thought I'd check none the less.
Any other suggestions or corrections?
Thanks all.
