Not much...

'Crud' will certainly make a difference. My water has generally been pretty cruddy, I admit, thanks to decomposing Azolla roots, etc. Anyway, no Azolla floating in my tank this time around so I will see if I can maintain reasonably clear water like everyone else seems to be able to do.

Back to crazytree's fish, though - they are 40-60mm fingerlings, not tiny fry. I reckon they would be fine.
