Haven;t heard of anyone trying them, I guess the yabbies are generally so easy to get hold of, and bread so readily, they are a bit more popular.. And Marron, well, we all know why marron are popular...

I doubt there will be much difference by stocking jilgies or koonacs with eating each other but they don't grow as big as yabbies.

Something to think about is only stocking single sex.

"When males and females are separated, male yabbies grow about 15% faster than males in mixed sex dams, and female yabbies grow about 30% faster than those in mixed sex farm dams.
In monosex culture male yabbies grow about 70% faster than female yabbies."

So if you just want a good feed, might be worth eating the females now, stocking with males and see how they go.

I tried 10 in my ibc system. Now have 3 left and lost a few SP in the process. Think i'll stick with fish.
