I have completed my latest system, consisting of two half barrels as the grow bed and accompanied by a 250 L tank for the fish. I have the system on constant flow and all seems to be going well.

I only want to have gold fish in this tank (with a couple of yabbies to keep the floor clean) however I was wondering what the optimum number of goldfish would be for a tank this size and to obviously keep the plants happy with enough nutrients.

Cheers for any advice.

Do goldfish handle a 2 times per day feeding regime so as to maximise their outpoo...t (output)?

Well some people might tell you otherwise, but I believe that the single tail variety of goldfishes are better for outdoor ponds. The fan tail or double tailed variety or the fancy breed will probably die at some stage. Attack by yabbies, etc. Try shubukins they are very hardy and you could get some that looks like kois in the pond.
