really? Most supermarkets will sell you some (although you have to cook it yourself) And i often see roo on the menu at pubs and restaurants. Apparently we are one of the few countries that eat our national emblems :)

Yeah, I was told it was too hard to cook and no one ordered it. This was in Townsville and New Castle. I did go into Sydney but I got so frustrated with driving around that I just went to this chinese restaurant and gave up looking. I did see it in the supermarket but I had nowhere to cook it. Had tons of Thai and Indian food though... and meat pies. BTW, I found it odd that the places I went didn't identify the meat... it wasn't "chicken" pie or "beef" pie, it was "meat" pie. I did make sure to ask once and the girl at the counter said, "It's beef... uhmm.. yeah, it's beef." How reassuring. Did I just totally hangout at the wrong spots? LOL

how long ago did you come to Australia? eating kangaroo is the in thing now..the main benefit being that it has added to the aussie vernacular eg "mums making filet mignroo tonight" etc

I was there pretty much the entire month of April. I spent two weeks in Townsville and a week in New Castle (with one day in Sydney).

I didn't do as much exploring as I would like. I did feel pretty comfortable there. Other than the car thing, I almost felt I hadn't left the US.

Yeah 'meat' pie could be anything, in fact you might have eaten roo and not even known! Like any other place, there is a broad spectrum of food options, some good, others not so much...
