Howdy all,

Is it possible to have too much water movement in your FT?

Can it stress the fish?

Ive got some tilapia and my minuscule air pump is not enough for them, so until I can get to Bangkok I have rigged up my new Linz 13,200L/ph pump in the FT, just pumping up to splash the surface....but boy does it pump! Defiantly wont be any DO issues now with it going...just worried the huge amount of surface movement might stress them out....

Any thoughts?

I have a smaller pump but it cant handle the solids that have accumulated at the bottom of the FT....so another befit of this larger pump is it will stir things up a bit and get the solids into the GB...

Its just a temporary measure til I can get a better air pump....

Cheers,
Floyd.

I can't see why that would be a problem when I stick the big pump in the pond the fish seam to have fun swimming into it

yeah i was a bit worried about that.... but people have been running pumps in the FT for ages no?

Its a big tank, and they have a few places to hide...lets hope they can resist the temptation...

But seriously....its a choice of watching them die slowly from lack of DO, or risking a few going through the pump....

They enjoy "swimming into the current," not "swimming into the pump."

Dang English pronouns!
