im running a 3000ltr p/h water pump to gb with t piece half way going back to ft and a v10 per min air pump (which a local aquarium shop said it would be ample for 60 rainbow trout.....and i quote it would easily do double that..) flood and drain system fill takes 13.5 mins emptys in 1.40 mins i have planted some seedlings in there with a little seasol cause i was a bit impatient and seems to be new growth on my butterhead lettuce and silverbeet which only been in there a week...
photos are coming soon as i figure on how to attach them..

me and computers really dont see eye to eye but the comp is coming around slowly.

I dont mean to be rude but your local aquarium shop dude would know diddly about aquaponics I would guess. And saying that an aquarium air pump will look after 60 trout , I am almost sure of it

I would have to agree with mantis.

I have 80L/Min for about 50 fish. 22 of them being trout. Now this is in additional to all water hitting the ST and FT 24/7.

Yeah, but hang on guys.... Air pumps are not the be all and end all, we use tiny air pumps, and we have systems that run without any air pumps, they are not essential if you have enough dissolved oxygen though other methods like water flowing and splashing.

Main problem here was too many trout and feeding, causing spikes, not lack of DO..

Thats true but telling someone that a 10L/min air pump will be sufficient for 60 trout without explaining about water movement splashing etc for dissolved 02 , is not good.
