Just a quick question on yabbies, I have looked over the fisheries website. I was thinking yabbies, marron, gulgies were all the same thing. I can see marron have a fishing season but yabbies appear to be a pest in WA. Does anyone now if you are aloud to catch yabbies down at your local pond or river in WA? Just checking cause the kids want to bring em home.

plenty in that little lake /pond near the round about in Woodlake Village have taken plenty.

We have a few different ones in W.A., I guess you just need to make sure you are getting the right ones so that you don't get caught out.

The easy way of telling a marron from all the rest is that it will have a central ridge right in the middle of its head that none of the others have.

Well I think the fisheries website in WA clearly explains how to identify between them and at no point did they say that they look the same, so you probably want to take note what a marron looks like, because I believe it is a fine to move a marron.

I think it's a fine to move marron from natural water courses out of season (ie poaching) but if you buy them it from a farm etc you should be ok
