I was just wondering if it was too late to get some rainbow trout.
I live in secret harbour and my tank is burried to bout 1.2m, so well insulated.
I'm gonna fishless cycle my tank for bout 2 weeks. Would that be long enough to grow them out?
Don't really wanna get silver's coz they take too long to grow out and u have to purge b4 eating and don't have those facilities, unless i do it to the whole tank.
I could just keep put koi or goldie's in it for a while and then sell them off when it gets warm enough for barra.

Any opinions would be great.

Cheers
Jono

Your tank is buried ..... what about your grow beds? And do you have shading for both?

My gb (only 1 atm, more to come) is a bathtub raised on bricks with wood stopping it from rocking.
There's no shade for either of them and no cover on either atm (planing on covering the fish tank this week, even if temp with some shade cloth).
Haven't worried bout testing yet, prob do that when i get home from work and have finished painting the garage.
But the water feels cold and have put some urea in there as well as occasionally using humonia :)

Cheers

Jono the main problem will be getting some at the right price, they will grow til about the end of November, but as they are bigger now than 2 months ago, try clicking this link ucp.php?i=pm&mode=compose&u=301 to private message forum member Troutman (Gavin) he is a supplier and may have some left and does deliver to Perth, but on cue he will probably magically appear in here  I know a supplier at Mundijong will have them but will be a least $5 each  this time of year, and some farmers south of here will also have them but at $11 per kilo so about $2.50-$3.00 each but you would have to collect them, so another $80 in fuel

I was thinking that i may try golden ponds. I only want bout 10 to start with. That way i'm not too committed to bring more beds online in a set time frame (i just bought a '65 xp falcon wagon that i want to get registered b4 the 5th december).
What size would they need to be to grow out to a decent size?
I heard that they were bout $3 a couple of months ago, so prob right bout the $5, but if i only want 10 then its not that much more really.
Anyway thanks for the info.

Cheers

GP is where I am on about, he is at $5 atm, better taking Boris's offer, you still have over 4 months to grow them, mine are already bigger than the plate size ones I bought in Coles the other week, with 10 you should get them to a huge size in 4 1/2 months
