Should work but dont go silly with the ammonia as too much will kill the bacteria

yeah i have my own special blend of nutes that i use in hydroponics and i'm using a diluted seedling amount to kick start my plants, i specialize in the use of sea-90 as the prime ingredient along with the other stuff needed for plant growth.....i saw where you could use a 10 to 1 ratio of urine for seedlings is safe so we will see.... :)

I'm not to sure what your asking about? Will what work? The system will work, it's a barrel ponics system, there have been hundreds of them built... Or is it more about adding nutes, then ammonia, then fish?

Personally I wouldn't go down this path myself..

yes I'm asking about the method I'm using, I'm wanting to find out if anyone has done it before....the reason for my exploration is that I'm one that finds cheaper and easier ways of doing things without sacrificing quality , i look for things that no one has tried yet. i don't like to "go with the crowd" without trying things no one has tried before. if i am successful at finding a method or alternate material (such as my "find" that pillow stuffing will work just fine as a grow media, using RID-X as a beneficial bacteria works great, and using sulfuric acid pipe cleaner as a sulfur ingredient and ph down works great) that is faster, cheaper, and doesn't sacrifice quality, then i will share it with everyone free of charge. everyone thought i was going to kill my plants and said i was being ridiculous and wasting my time. now they are switching from hydroten, suretogrow, and cocoanut husk, expensive bacteria additives, and spending one tenth the amount of money they were on plant nutes thanx to my free nute formula i found and shared with them 8) . i'm just trying to help find things and ways that people may have over looked. now i have found that "the way its being done" is the best way on several issues, but i have also found a few BIG money savers as well...i am applying my methods to this system as well, i will keep you guys updated on my findings. :D

By all means keep experementing thats how we have made such great advances in aquaponics over the years but theres one thing i would like is report your failures so others wont try the same thing

well here is my update for today, i have been cycling out the water about 10 gallons per day with tap water that i let sit over night each time since i started, the seeds have done ok, they could have done better with a little less nutes, clones are doing great though, now i am concentrating on bacteria growth.

i noticed that some of the seeds fell down inbetween the rocks so i am germinating more seeds in my grow tray under CFL's and am going to put them in the AP sys when they get a little bigger
