Hi
Just setting new system up, 1000lt FT steel tank lined with pond liner and 500lt BYAP Gb.
Flood and drain system. 3000lt per hr sub pump. Have timer coming on 15min every hour and draining for 45 min which all seems like it's working well and GB not completely emptying.

Have just dropped 20 trout in FT tonight and going to feed little each day( 1 tbsp) waiting baterial to build up in system. Also put additional airation stone in tank to increase oxygen levels.

Tested ph tonight
Ph 7.6
post other reading tomorrow
Wal

    pH
    Water temp
    Ammonia

I imagine that if you have trout now they will probably be fairly large, a bit larger than a normal fingerling. So as Rupe says, keep the feeding right down... I'd probably not feed for the first couple of weeks at least, your ammonia will build up fairly quickly even without any feeding.

You've done a good job to get the hydroton to stay in the bed at that angle :laughing3:

Yep, you can leave them without feed for at least 2-3 weeks if need be. If they can spot a gap they make a jump for it, especially if there is water flowing in there from a drain, a bit like them trying to jump up stream....

Got the kids to feed them this morning - great moment for them (both i'm sure)
only gave a tblsp and tested water after work
ammonia still only 0.25

Only a very slight fall on GB must be the photo :laughing3:
Waiting for system to kick in - It's testing my patience! But so far so good -
