Hi all,

Below are the beginnings of my aquaponics system. The main tanks are the fish tanks, a 1000ltr and a 500ltr. The main tank currently has about 20 tilapia and the smaller 3 koi and +- 5 tilapia fry. The 4 grow beds are +- 80ltr and the deep water or floating raft has about 270ltr.

I have never really checked, but I suppose direct overhead will be +- 3hours and indirect +- 4. The whole green house area is enclosed in Fibreglass sheeting.

Nice and neet Wireman, I have some DWC as well and find that if you can move the water around in the beds it works heaps better, I just use about 5 simple air lifts in mine

@TEA20 - Yes, I also have 10 air stones in that bed. Started with 5, but that was just not enough. Below are some new pics.

No - It's just much easier to get hold white ones. Also the white ones have a wall thickness of +- 5mm which holds there shape a lot better.

Cheers,

Wireman,

Just keep in mind that most of the white barrels get brittle as they age (at least the ones in the US do), mainly because of UV exposure. The blue barrels usually stand up to this better.

If anybody can assist me here your help would be much appreciated. My cucumber leaves have gone spotty and dry. I have searched the net and the only thing I can find is that it is a disease and the plants should be removed and destroyed.
