Hi, all. TC suggested I jump on board and start up a system thread.

Hey I'm Mook from Virginia in the USA. I was inquiring at my hydrostore if any other customers were talking about doing AP, hydro stores don't like talking about their customers for obvious reasons. He said one guy was but that he didn't come in very often so he doesn't really know what scale or anything but sounded like that guy was testing the waters as were.

So I have the availability of a Flood and drain that my friend used but hated and has sitting at his house, he preferred NFT technique for ease of cleaning and what not.

I prefer DWC for the low maintenance and low occurrence of problems. I haven't done outdoor hydro so I don't know what is going to enter the environment on my back porch.

I am going to try to make a small test CHIFT PIST/CHOP system. The Flood and drain table is about 3x3 But I don't have it yet, but hopefully get it sometime this week. then I can see what size FT I want and see if I can get the system cycling soon.
This was my intro thread, showing some of the hydro I have going on.

I just germinated a mango seed too, so Its gonna be interesting to see how that grows.

Also I want to eventually grow mushrooms too, especially huge caps to eat like a burger, those are so good.

My mom has pretty much supported my growing interests and we have been becoming more of gardening buddies, its pretty fun to grow food.

I have a crap outdoor garden over grown with weeds but its still does good. The soil here is mostly hard clay, but I've been planting potatoes to try and break up the soil. but that only goes so fast.

Once I get the Flood table, I'll try to get pics of the porch and show you what I'm thinking as far as setup.

Hi Mook,
Welcome to AP.

Was looking at your other thread and noticed the pic of your pansy in the pot. To me it looked as if you have had the water a little high? Need to keep the water a couple of centimetres from the top of the medium.

Are you able to draw up a basic plan of what you are thinking? and Also some photos of where you are planning to set-up.

I can recommend starting small and building up slowly. I have learnt so much with my test system, it's been a huge learning curve.

Good luck and I look forward to following your thread.

I've been keen on the idea of growing mushrooms under the growbeds for a long time, just never got around to doing it... One day..
