I have uncovered a source of coconut fibre and wonder if there is a use for it in aquaponics?

I tried it. It made a mess of the system since the fibers get loose and get caught in everything. Also they stay VERY wet and I had some root rot. and algae growing along the surface.

It might have a use like F&F noted, in something like a wicking bed or perhaps some pots that you might sit on some beds and just hand water them with system water once or twice a day or something. It will hold more water than usually desirable in AP and it will also probably turn your water dark.

However I think a few people have managed to use coir or a mixture of media with coir in it. Still turned their water like dark tea.

OK, I'll use it for mushrooms and wicker beds.
