Visited Len today and had a look at his system - as he currently does not have a digital camera at his disposal, I offered to take a few pics - unfortunately I still had not charged my camera, so I snapped some with my mobile phone again (note to self, charge the damn camera!!! :wink: )
Len will log in some time and give some info and progress on his system, which has grown and evolved over the past few years.

I like popping around to his place from time to time - has a real passion for AP and realy gets into it... like all of us he does wish he had more time to spend on ap :mrgreen:

very cool looking system....I love the banana plant....
I have been dreaming of incorperating fruit tree's into
blue barrels simular to that :cheers:

Spent the whole day at Len and Wendy's place today - their house was one of the open homes in the "sustainable homes" day… The showcased their aquaponics system and asked me help them out and chat to people about the benefits of aquaponics… we originally expected around 15 or 20 people for the day… Boy were we surprised when we were kept busy all day, with roughly 100 groups (individuals or families) came through! It was rather exciting talking to strangers about AP all day – and seeing the disbelief when they realised how easy it could be … one lady was totally blown away at the thought of growing both your own veg AND fish as food in your own back yard! I was that busy I only had time to snap one pic of the people passing through - had to sneak away to have enough time to wolf down one and a half sandwiches. All in the name of AP!!!!
7 NEWS came around and wanted to interview us - I suggested they interview Len, it is HIS system after all... The camera guy said it should be in Monday's news (on channel 7 obviously) (I held the mike for Len durng the interview - so who knows, you might see my hand :roll: ) If anybody sees it, pls record it, be interesting to see how the final interview turns out to telly!

and finally... the live in resident - a small sun bird sitting on his/her eggs... poor bugger had to contend with all the traffic of today right past its nest... as soon as the traffic dies down (way after 4pm), it settled down and stat tight on its eggs...
Len had thought that he would have time to chat to people AND continue working on his next growbed and tank combo... but alas, not a minute could be spared to work on it... he was a man in demand :mrgreen:
DID I MENTION THAT CHANEL 7 WAS THERE AND THAT IT SHOULD BE FEATURED ON THE NEWS TOMORROW? :lol:

Forgot to mention that I managed to give out all the BYAP cards I had on me today... I always carry 10 or so in my wallet - I could have given out 50 odd cards today the way people were asking questions... I jotted the web address for byap on pieces of paper eventually and people seemed excited to get it (usually people receiving bits of paper from me moan - my students ). Wearing my BYAP shirt and hat seemed to help as well (even tho they are getting rather worn out in appearance, the symbols and name of this AWESOME sight was out there!!!)
I suggested that people join and ask away - now we wait an see how many join (I did tell them that we are that friendly and willing to share info that you don’t have to join to read the information on this site :D ) :cheers:
