Well gang, I've been lurking on this site for quite some time. Now I'm starting my system. I've managed thus far to collect some blue barrels for growbeds, a 110 gallon vulcanized tank for a sump and just picked up a 10' by 12' Harbor Freight greenhouse (read CHEAP). Still need to pick up this and that before I break ground. The first big challenge, according to what I've seen in Gardenweb, is to get the greenhouse reinforced and fit for service.

The system itself will be chift pist with loop siphons for simplicity and adjustability. I will post pictures as I progress and welcome all input from the esteemed members of this forum.

Now, I need to get my fishy tank. Then....

Oh Lord, what have I gotten myself into....

Well, today my eleven year old son and I got the 4" x 6" sleepers dug in, leveled, squared, and lag bolted in place for the greenhouse foundation. Next thing is to dig the hole for the in-ground sump tank. Then we can lay the floor. Getting traction!

Joel, honestly, the toes weren't intentional (dark garage and all). I did just about bust a gut when I went to post it though. And you're right I've been all through this forum trying to get up to speed.

Meancoyote, that's the linky, among others, I've been consulting to beef up the greenhouse. Very useful stuff!

Dufflight, I have to tell you, my wife thought the yard would be nothing but greenhouse until I 'splained that the model on the box pic was "vertically challenged." She made the 6'x8' look huge.

Ok, now to nuts and bolts...pump sizing.

180 gallon fish tank, 110 gallon sump inground, 8 half barrel growbeds, ~ 5 ft of lift head, chift pist configuration. I found on the forum where TCLynx (if my memory serves me correctly) recommended a pump flow of one fish tank change per hour. Any recommendations, anyone?

And for the life of me, I can't seem to find a timer for the pump anywhere.

Been slow going between the weather and two kids in Little League baseball. Got the frame up and the ceiling panels on (since this pic was taken). Also reinforced with half inch EMT. Now it's time to build the system. I'm off next week, hopefully get some good weather and cooperation from the kids. Time for more fun!!!
