Hi All:
Been lurking for awhile, now I have a little system to post about. This is my journal.

I am located in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

I have started out with a 55 gal (44 imperial gallons, or 200 litres.). I let city Water set with circulation for a week or more.

I put about 2.5 cm of some Flourite (I had left over from an old fish tank) on the bottom .

In the red trays I put 50L of Hydrotons.
Image

One large air stone in the bottom.

I have added some beneficial bacteria from a friend's pond.

I have 2 Doz "Gold fish" and a 4 inch Crappie.


Wish me brain power (Luck never works).

If the water pump is running continuously, you dont need the air pump :)

Time to try out my new test kit.

Ammonia = 0

Nitrite = 2

Nitrate = 5

PH = 7.6

as long as the fish load is low, this seems to be working. microbs must be breeding.
